Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four children born on August 9, 1976, from Beaumont Puy in Domme. At a young age, both her dental doctors parents and teacher mother supported Audrey's love of theatre and drama. The passion for theater was the one that overshadowed her initial wish to become a the first primatologist. At the age of a young lady rising to the heights of fame was quick and accompanied by early recognition and success. Following her studies in 1998 she was a participant in a French talent-scouting TV programme Jeunes Premiers sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to launching her acting career in earnest. Her acting and modelling careers were intertwined. Her image was the mainstay of L'Oreal Mont Blanc Chanel, and is often referred to as The Chanel Muse. Photography is another passion and she recently exhibited her work in the Arles festival under the name Superficial. Her photographs are largely about the spotlight and fame. The exhibit also includes a collection of self portraits as well. Audrey Tautou's very first major role, as Amelie Poulain's lead actor in Le Fabuleux d'Amelie Poulain, brought her international stardom. Amelie was a box-office international success, and received accolades during awards ceremonies across all over the world. Amelie is the most successful french-language film to hit the US. After this huge success, Tautou was later cast in numerous films, which included British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles.
